WW1 British Private Purchase Periscope, The Lifegu
With all private purchase items you just dont know whats going to turn up next. This periscope is called the Lifeguard and has survived in very nice condition with nearly all its black finish to both end caps and both mirrors without damage, concertina body works smoothly. The carry case again in very nice condition. Of interest is that the material and clouser snaps on the carry case match the private purchase water bottle ive listed, item number 55049!
Waffen SS Overseas/ M43 Cap Insignia.
Both appear to have been removed from the same cap, the machine woven insignia on its rayon backing have survived in very nice condition, the back fold to the material would be expected from a set that has been used. They both appear to have been pasted into an album at one point. These were brought to me by the son of the British veteran who brought them back, he had numerous bits of German insignia which he wanted to mount in a frame with his fathers medals and photos but didnt want a set of SS cloth in the frame.
WW2 RAF C Type Flying Helmet, 1st Pattern.
This C type leather helmet is the first pattern with Bennet Buckle, condition is very good with no damage or snags to the leather body, all four leather goggle straps are complete and all press snaps are in working condition. The beenet buckle has nearly all its leather finish and the clouser strap is in very nice and strong condition, just underneath the Bennet buckle is a slight hole to the leather. Both reciver cups are supple and strong with no issues. The inside is again in very nice condition but has seen service, named to the inside.
WW2 British Female Side Cap, American Ambulance G
A very rare find is this very nice condition female side cap to a member of the AAGB, this organisation was put together by American civilians who were resident in the UK, there donations provided a number of ambulances for use on the Homefront. The staff were usually ''Fanny'' and ATS recruits. The cap is in very nice condition, body and red edging has no damage, the inside lining is again in very nice condition. The front has one ''football'' type button, one is missing. The bronze cap badge is sewn down to the cap itself, this is period done as seen by the cotton used, reason for this is that one fixing prong has gone. There were only around 400 members of this unit so this example could be classed as a very scarce survivor.
British Wardens Helmet, No14 W 4A.
A very nice variant of the WW2 British Wardens helmet. Black outer paint is well over 90% complete with just a small rust bleed coming thru on the front left hand side of the large ''W'' on the front. The inside is as found, the first pattern liner is in complete condition with storage issues, i belive this will clean up, liner is quite supple and not over brittle. Chinstrap again complete but dirty. Liner and helmet are both dated 1939, never been apart. I picked this one up this morning only giving the outer a slight wipe with a damp cloth.
