WW1 Officers Tunic, Medals, Belt and Whistle.
This tunic has survived in wonderfull condition, named to S.L.Jones and dated 1918. There are around 4 small moth nips to the cloth body, no moth tracking. The sleeve has its original 4 year overseas srtipes to the right hand sleeve. The collar dogs have gone, most probably taken off by the original owner. The shoulder straps have there original rank pips and are sleeved with green felt, rifle regiment? There is a watch pocket under the waist band and two brass belt loops to the rear. All buttons are marked to the Prince of Wales Own West Yorkshire Regiment. The lining has has 3 small field repairs other than that its in very good condition, both the bottom of the sleeves are finished off in leather as usual for a combat worn tunic.. The 1915 trio is named LCpl..S.L.Jones, 10880, Devon R, to the star and both other medals named to ..2nd LIEUT, S.L.Jones. The medals are in super condition, no edge knocks etc and the War medal has toned to a nearly black colour, these medals are sewn around the original ribbon bar. With this group comes his original Sam Brown belt and cross strap and large ammo pouch, no date or markings, found in one pocket is a boy scouts whistle and lanyard, whistle again toned to a nearly black colour. This gouping recently found after a relative died and sold by the family to me, so this has never been in a collection before. From some research it appears that S.L.Jones landed in France in 1915 and was commisioned two weeks after the date on the jacket label, he was from the Rhondda, South Wales. This is a super example as im sure you will agree and one thats never been on the market before.
