Knights Cross, 1957 Pattern, Steinhaure and Luck.
This is a three piece 1957 pattern Knights Cross made by the firm Steinhaure and Luck, it has the usual press faults associated with this maker. The condition is really nice with id say nearly 100% black finish to the iron centre, the frame again is in super condition. Suspension ring to the top of the cross is slightly recessed as you would expect to find with an S&L made piece. The ribbon is an original 57 pattern item, seems to have been used to wear the medal at some point .With this cross comes a S&L oakleaf and swords, again this found with the usual faults found with this maker, i have been told this is a cast copy, its marked 800. Also included with this lot is a copy box to keep the item in.The items were together when i found them so im selling as a set, so the price is for the medal and ribbon the other items are a bonus.
Cloth German Cross in Gold.
Luftwaffe version of the German Cross in Gold, this example is in used condition and appears to have been tunic removed. Item recently purchased from a person who said he remembered playing with this item when a child, i should have asked if he was the one who tried to colour in the white centre!! Never in a collection before and one that has character and 100% original.
Early Black ''DJ''/ Pimpf / Youth Side Cap.
Example of an German DJ side cap with HJ badge to the front and edelweiss to the side, both pinned through the material. Cap has no makers details, no rzm tag. This is the model worn by youth members before WW2, has three poppers along the top and one either side , poppers are unmarked. Balck twill/cotton type material to the inside , there does seem to be the remains of stitch holes in this lining were a lable once was , gone to time. Body of the cap seems to be of a felt type material and has suffered some moth damage but nothing to detract from the overall appearance of this scarce cap. Moth and no RZM lable is reflected in the price.
Kriegsmarine Other Ranks Blue Side Cap.
French made Kriegsmarien side cap in blue , has a Paris makers mark to the inside and is sized 60. Original Bevo insignia applied to the front. This example has been re-tailored to make it larger. It is known that a certain amount of these French produced caps were made too small in the factory as a protest by the factory workers, this is one of the those that was sent back to be re-sized. The condition of the cap is V.Good + and has the added extra of being quite a rare variant with the re-tailoring.
Lufftwaffe M42 Combat Helmet
This m42 helmet is maker marked ET66 and has a lot number at the rear of the shell which looks like 2458, its a light stamping. The shell has a lufftwaffe blue paint and has had the decal removed during the war due to late war regulations, the decal ''scrape'' has been done to follow the outline of the decal, the scraped area has toned nicely with age. The outside paintwork rates at over 90% and the inside the same. The crown has a ''stacking'' ring mark in the paint, a good indication of an authentic paint job . The liner is in very good order , no holes or damage and is very supple, sized 59. The liner still has its original liner string. Liner pins have never been bent and are tight against the shell, liner is original to this helmet. This helmet has seen service life and is a very good example of a ww2 german helmet. Helmet is priced accordingly with the decal having been removed.
German Infantry NCO Walking Out Visor Cap
Super nice conditioned NCO visor, white pipped for infantry and regimental stampings to the inside sweatband, its date 1936. As mentioned this cap has survived in wonderfull condition, the only slight damage is a small tracking mark to the front, just right , underneath the eagle and a couple of nipes right at the back, its seen in one of the photos. Body still has original shape as does the peak and the liner and sweatband is in very good condition +.
WW1 German Felt Pickelhaube
Imperial German Ersatz Felt body Pickelhaube thats in good condition, the body has at one time been crushed slightly leaving two splits to the body, one to the front peak and a smaller are to the rear on the other side. There is a slight mark running across the right hand side but this is not a crack or anything major, the larger crack has at some time been repaired but this has not held. The liner is in very good condition and has no issues. The top brass spike has no issues and the pickelhaube still retains its original frontal Prussian eagle plate thats in very good condition with no issues, both back retaining loops attatched. The chinstrap is of a thin gauge leather, may i add im not sure if this is an original chinstrap, i do know that both cockades are reproductions. So what im selling is a scarce felt ersatz example that has a couple of issues to the body, these i belive can be repaired, with some TLC this will be a very nice example, the condition is reflected in the price.
