German made fighting knife perhaps made by the Eickhorn firm towards the end of its factory production. This is a variant without wire cutter hole to the blade and the bottom of the scabbard. This example is in very nice condition with close to 95% of its finish, some minor pitting to a the front area and one tiny knock to the cutting edge. One side of the blade is stamped...U.S.MOD, 1917 C.T. the other being stamped PLUMB over a very faint St Louis. Seel hilt with most of its finish with wear to the pommel. I would say the cap itself is in unissued condition with nice nap to the material and no moth nips or grazing. Inside lining with leather sweatband again very clean with paper size label.
