The iron center has most of its black finish except for the finish to the central swastika. The two piece frame is tight with good detail to the beading. The rear has its hinge and coke bottle pin but missing its bottom catch.  read more

WW1 Imperial German, Square Punched, Vaulted Iron Cross First Class. Carl Dillenius.

Well this example has seen better days thats for sure but still interesting in that the rear has what is called a ''square punch'' relating perhaps to manufacture by the firm Carl Dillenius of Pforzheim. As seen the iron core has lost most of its finish with the frame having a couple of knocks.
