Poignant group of medals belonging to a local Cardiff family named Dugine. The group consists of two sets of medals one being to Albert Dugine who was a fireman and trimmer on board the cargo steamer SS.Harmonic, ship was sunk on the 15th of July 1943 by U-172 captained by Carl Emmermann on his 5th patrol. The ET66 stamped shell is in solid condition with close to 90% of its period factory finish remaining, you will find the usual overall scrapes and wear marks all over the shell from use,these have toned down with a dark patina from age. The steel shell has one small knock to the side and close to 90% of its period factory rough finish to the outside, inside finish it better! Welch Regiment WW2 Burma and Korea Medal Group.
Medals are mounted for wear and in very nice condition with the Korea medal being stamped around the edge to....22539979 CPL. A.J.ALDRICH WELCH. The medal mount still has its fixing pin and slides through the mount at the back. Would appear the group has been removed at some point from a display frame and ''as is'' when i found the lot. A very nice vintage Sam Brown belt rig including a nice sword hanger for a large sword and an unusual leather belt hanger loop with buckle that i have never come across before. Vintage Ever Ready Wooden Box Lamp/ Torch.
In very nice condition , no chips or cracks. It would seem these can be dated from anywhere between 1913 and 1920. No military marks to be found but would make a very nice WW1 display item as i have found a number of the net with WD marks. read more
