These pages display a number of the rare items that I have had the pleasure of selling. To view more details and a larger photograph please click on the thumbnail picture.
WW1 German Boxed Service Glasses, Brille.
A rather scarce set of WW1 glasses still held in there original carry tin. The tin itself is in good condition with some rust but whats nice is its original paper instructions to the inside, still in nice shape. The glasses again in good condition with no damage to the lenses and the metal frame is complete but its missing one pin to the side. The elastic strapping is there and still attatched to the frames and i would say still in strongish condition. Great display piece and over a hundred years old.
WW1 German White Fatigue Trousers.
In good allround condition with no holes just some staining from storage/use. owners name hand stitched to the front, buttons are a crude lead type. No markings found but fit regulation pattern. May i add the metal buckles and black straping is my attachment for taking photos no part of the trousers.
Blue Imperial Service Jacket.
Dates from the late 1880's i belive, condition is nice but its in need of some shoulder boards and one button for the bottom cuff, material colour is strong with only a couple of tiny scuffs, a couple of bottom button holes have streched from either a stout gent or stout mannequin. Inside lining again in good used condition with a couple of tears, internal belt with buckles present, faint markings.
Imperial German Heavy Horse Eagle Mounted Bell.
I know theres a special name for this item but cannot fathom what it is, anyway i do belive it fits onto the neck brace of a heavy horse as a bell, it has a nice Imperial eagle to the top ball and two colour horse hair to either side, bottom brackets have a hole for mounting. Ive not attempted to clean this item so i have no idea what finish lays underneath. Large item standing over 12 inches in height. p.s. yep it makes a noise when moved.
Imperial Bavarian ''OR's'' Picklehaube. Transition
A very nice example thats never been clean or restored, the body has minor crazing to the leather, both front and back peak are strong withouth repair, chinstrap is an original example. The front steel helmet plate again without damage, front visor steel edge has one crimp to the front, top spike is a mixture of brass and steel fittings. All steel metal fittings at one point were covered with a wash to resemble an all brass version this is the reason i call it a transitional piece before the all steel versions were produced. The inside liner is again in very nice condition. its supple and has taken on a nice dark patina , the original owner has marked it twice with his name, inside dome has a very nice depot stamp and is dated 1915. The cockades are a bit difficult as im not sure if original to this helmet, national cockade might well have a chance but i belive the white and blue Bavarian cockade is a replacement. Ive never attempted to clean the item as i do not touch any item that i add to my collection, i just love Patina folks!!! Time for this Pickle for a new home.
