First issued as an early army example then reissued as a home front Wardens helmet. The black finish rates at over 80% complete with a few areas of rust bleed. German POW, Internment Camp, Wooden Framed Plaque, Paderborn. 1946.
Produced in 1946 by members of hut 6 for a fellow prisoner on his 25th wedding anniversary whilst being held in Staumhule internment camp, Paderborn. The back has his fellow hut members signatures and camp details. This camp was set up by the British Occupation army of the Rhine to hold suspected war criminals, NSDAP and State officials. Zinc manufactured cross by the firm Orth, clear L15 stamp to the fixing pin. Cross has lost most of its silver finish, still retains sharp detail. The box is its period example and is in nice condition. read more

Obviously made ''in house'' for use by a serving soldier. The machine stitch work is a professionally tailored as seen by the neck to the hood and seams along the shoulder area but for some reason the four button holes, the velcro fasteners to the bottom sleeves and the inside edging. A very nice clean condition barathea jacket with no moth holes or tracking that i can find. Both top pockets have the fasten down snaps to the corners and all Kings Crown brass buttons are present.
