HMS Crane Souvenir Wooden Box.
Nice wooden hand made box measuring 8x5x3 inches with a very nice hand rendered image of the HMS Crane motif in pexiglass. HMS Crane was a modified Black Swan Sloop launched in 1942, commissioned in 42. Performed convoy escort roles in the Atlantic before supporting the Normandy landings and finaly service with the pacific fleet during the battle of Okinawa. WW1 RFA Grouping.
Small group of items that came together and apparently belonged to first class Bombardier William Braithwaite who was born in 1895 and served from 1915 till 19 spending the first two years in India. His initials can be found scratched into the combination knife and spoon, fork missing.
